Description:

Hale Pet Door for Screen Doors — Dog & Cat Door for Screens

Give your dog or cat the freedom to come and go through your screen door, screened porch, lanai or screen window — without leaving the screen open to bugs. The Hale Pet Door for Screen Doors is a premium, American-made screen dog door built from extruded aluminum with a flexible, magnetic-seal flap that closes tight behind your pet. It is the screen pet door serious pet owners choose when a flimsy plastic insert from the hardware store just won't do.

Why Choose a Hale Screen Pet Door?

Hale Pet Door has built pet doors in the USA since 1985, and their screen models are engineered specifically for screened enclosures. The frame is extruded 6063-T5 aluminum with a .063" wall thickness — never bent sheet metal — and the single flap is flexible 3/16" clear PVC vinyl sealed with Alnico 5 magnets and 1/2" nylon pile weather stripping, so the flap shuts securely and keeps insects out. By default, Hale now fits its new textured/frosted flap; if you prefer the classic clear flap, just tell us in your order notes.

Three Ways to Fit Your Screen — Every Hale Screen Model on One Page

Standard 1/2" thick or less (Half-Inch or Less Model): Designed for screen door and screen window frames 1/2" thick or less. Legs on one side and the bottom slide over your existing frame while Hale's proprietary spline frame channels grip the screen mesh on the other sides. Fully reversible for left or right corner installation.

Universal More than 1/2" OR Middle of Mesh (Universal Model): Most modern screen doors are over 1/2" thick (usually at least 5/8"). Hale's Universal Model has spline channels on all four sides, so it can be installed in a corner or directly in the middle of your screen mesh — no drill holes in your frame, secured with metal retainer clips, and fully reversible for left or right installation. It is the renter-friendly fit for thicker frames.

Cut-over 1/2" thick (Cut Model): The Cut Model's legs are custom trimmed on one side and the bottom to fit your desired location — the most common model for lanais, screen porches and sidelights. Please measure carefully before ordering: once cut, this custom item is returnable only for 50% credit toward the purchase of another pet door.

Ordering a White screen door? Hale does not build the Screen Model in White — its screen frames come in Arizona Beige, Black and Brushed Aluminum. For a White Hale pet door, see the Door, Wall and In-Glass models, which Hale does build in White.

Built for Dogs and Cats of Every Size

Choose from 11 standard Hale sizes, from Small Medium for cats and toy breeds up to Giant for Great Danes and Mastiffs. For Tall Large sizes and up, Hale recommends adding the optional Screen Stabilizer Bar Kit for extra stability. Every Hale screen pet door is made in the USA and backed by a 5-year limited manufacturer warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which thickness to choose?
Measure your screen frame. If it is 1/2" thick or less, choose 'Standard 1/2" thick or less'. If it is over 1/2" — most modern screen doors are at least 5/8" — or you want the door mounted in the middle of your screen mesh, choose 'Universal More than 1/2" OR Middle of Mesh'. For a lanai, screen porch or sidelight where the legs must be trimmed to your exact opening, choose 'Cut-over 1/2" thick' — and measure carefully, because once cut the door is returnable only for 50% credit toward another pet door.

Can I get this screen pet door in White?
No — Hale builds the Screen Model in Arizona Beige, Black and Brushed Aluminum only, in every size and every frame fit. If you need a White Hale pet door, choose one of the Door, Wall or In-Glass models, which Hale does build in White.

Does the flap keep bugs out?
Yes. The flap is surrounded by 1/2" nylon pile weather stripping and held closed by strong Alnico 5 magnets, so it seals tightly after your pet passes through.

Can I install a screen dog door myself?
Yes — Hale screen models are designed for DIY installation with the spline-and-mesh system, and the Half-Inch or Less model is fully reversible for left or right corner installation. Hale also offers free telephone installation consultation.

What size should I order?
Measure your pet's shoulder height and width, then match them to the Hale size chart above. The flap opening should be at least as tall as your pet's shoulders so they don't have to hunch through.

Is there a warranty?
Yes, every Hale pet door carries a 5-year limited manufacturer warranty.

Shipping

Hale Pet Doors are built to order in the USA and ship from Colorado via FedEx Ground. Please allow 5-7 business days for your door to be built and assembled before it ships; screen models also need additional dry time, so same-day shipping may not be available. Once your order ships, you will receive an email with tracking information.
